 Many
moons ago when I was a struggling tranny, first trying on my wife’s
clothes (although she is not around any longer, not dead, as it sounds
just divorced LOL) and really just starting to get into the crossdressing & the
transvestite lifestyle, I found a chatroom website (not this particular
one as it's long gone as I started down the road of transvestitism when
the internet was still a new thing) and something that did at first take
me back a little was the terms and words the transgender community has
used!
In a new environment where words like "En femme" or "New
Woman" just go whoosh straight over your head it really
can spoil any enjoyment you can possible have within a new community & not
being able to fully understand words thrown towards you to can be extremely
confusing and distressing. Even the most commonest terms for CD/TV
or TS can mean nothing and can make you feel like a right old fool
and for many maybe even make them turn away from the lifestyle.
So I decided to work on a list of tranny terms, abbreviations & definitions
I know and if I’ve not fully addressed a term or you know of others
drop me a line and I’ll gladly change or add it, but the ones used
here I think are the most popular terms used in the transgender community.
- Admirer - a fan of TV/TS & CD -see crossdressing

- Androgynous - Some would say an extremely convincing
tranny who’s sex isn't 100% apparent based on their appearance
- Beard Cover - Cover it up makeup to minimise facial hair & get rid of the 9 o'clock shadow
- Being Read - When someone works out that someone is cross dressed, also called "Getting Clocked"
- Coming Out - Announcing to your close friends and family your sexuality
- Crossdresser - Someone that wears female clothes that can be either bisexual in nature or straight
- Domme TV/ TS & CD - domineering tranny see domineering
transvestites
- Drag King - Female Drag Queen
- Drag Queen - Flamboyant male that is usually gay, who dresses as a women
- En femme - When a male is crossdressed in women’s clothing, not his male ones
- Electrolysis - Procedure of having hair removed,
'can' sometime be permanent and for most in the crossdressing community,
more often performed for the removal of a males beard
- F2M - Female to male transsexual
- Gaff - Used to conceal a crossdresser or trannies penis eliminating cock bulge
- Gender Community - Collective including transsexuals,
crossdressers, transgender & transvestites
- Gender Reassignment Surgery (GRS) - Also called sex change, is the actual surgery to change a person’s sexual genitals
- Hermaphrodite - A person born with both sexual organs
- Hormones - Prescription drugs that emulate natural female or male hormones
- M2F - Shortened term for Male to Female transsexuals
- New Woman - A post operative Male to Female transsexual
- Non-Op - A transsexual person who has decided not to undergo the full gender reassignment surgery
- Passing - Successfully being passed off as a female
- Pre-Op - A transsexual has not yet undergone their gender reassignment surgery
- Padding - Used to form a female breast shape
- Post-Op - A transsexual that’s completed their full gender reassignment surgery
- S.O. - Significant Other (wife or boyfriend)
- Stealth Mode - Someone who is living full time as a female
- Trannies - Slang for transsexual
- Transgender - Term that covers transsexuals, crossdressers, transvestites
- Transition - A period between transsexual changes
- Transsexual - A person who’s body and chosen gender identity are not in sync
- Transvestite - Same as crossdresser the term that is more commonly used
- Sex Change - Surgery that changes a person’s genital sex, also called GRS
- Shemale - Term used by the porn industry for a pre-op transsexual that have already developed breasts but still have a penis
